The piece
Revol has made culinary porcelain in Saint-Uze, in the Drôme, since 1768, and is still run by the same family. Designer Noé Duchaufour-Lawrance created Caractère for its 250th anniversary. The pieces are made from a black culinary clay; the glaze is wiped from the rim by hand to show the raw clay, like a charcoal stroke, so no two edges are the same.
In use
The plate the rest of the range builds around. Pair it with the dessert and bread plates, and serve from the oval plate. It goes from oven to table to keep food warm.
