The piece
Revol has made culinary porcelain in Saint-Uze, in the Drôme, since 1768, and is still run by the same family. Designer Noé Duchaufour-Lawrance created Caractère for its 250th anniversary. The pieces are made from a black culinary clay; the glaze is wiped from the rim by hand to show the raw clay, like a charcoal stroke, so no two edges are the same.
In use
Serve an entrée, dessert or a cheese course of Époisses and fig paste. Set it on the dinner plate for a layered table.
