Description
The wine
The Paperwasp Vineyard takes its name from the paper wasps that nest in the vines around harvest. Usher Tinkler owns more than 60 hectares in Pokolbin, and this wine comes from a 1.6-hectare block of Chardonnay planted in 1985 on sandy loam. It is hand-picked and fully barrel-fermented in one- to three-year-old French oak (10% new), then aged on fine lees for eight months.
Tasting notes
Stone fruit and citrus with a creamy, rounded texture and just a touch of oak. Approachable and generous.
How to enjoy
Serve at 10–12°C. Try it with Marcel Petite Comté AOP 12 months, L'Artisan Marcel or Bonilla a la Vista crisps.
