Description
The wine
Sadi Malot is a grower-producer in the premier cru village of Villers-Marmery on the Montagne de Reims. The region is known for Pinot Noir, but a vein of chalky soil makes this village a Chardonnay specialist. Terre d'Origine is 100% Chardonnay, mostly from younger plots in Villers-Marmery with a little from grand cru Verzy. About 55% comes from the 2022 vintage; the rest from a perpetual reserve begun in 1982. It spends around 18 months on lees, has a low dosage of 4.2 g/L and is unfined and unfiltered.
Tasting notes
Floral and chalky aromas lead into citrus and oyster-shell flavours. The palate is mineral-etched yet deeply fruited, with a fine, dry finish.
How to enjoy
Serve well chilled, at 6–8°C. Pour it with Brillat-Savarin IGP, Marcel Petite Comté AOP 24 months or Beaufort d'Alpage AOP, and keep Bonilla a la Vista crisps close by.
