Description
The wine
La Bastide Blanche is a small family estate in Bandol, founded in 1972 and now run by two brothers. It has been certified organic since 2012 and practises biodynamics. The rosé is led by Mourvèdre, with Grenache and Cinsault, hand-harvested from vines on clay-limestone soils. It is pressed directly, with a short skin maceration for the Grenache and Cinsault. It is fermented in tank, with malolactic fermentation blocked to keep it fresh.
Tasting notes
Salmon-pink, with citrus and spice on the nose. The palate opens fresh and lively, then the Mourvèdre brings spice and a light grip. It finishes saline, with a trace of white flowers.
How to enjoy
Serve at 8–10°C. Bandol rosé has the structure for food: try it with grilled prawns, La Narval Sardines in Olive Oil or Olasagasti Anchovies in Olive Oil. On the cheese board, pour it with Ossau-Iraty AOP.
