Description
A single-vineyard Pinot Noir from Hurley Vineyard in Balnarring, on the Mornington Peninsula. Garamond is the coolest of the estate's three sites: 1.2 hectares of east-facing vines, sheltered from the westerly winds and always the last to be picked. It is named for the typographer Claude Garamond, whose typeface appears on every Hurley label.
Planted in 1998 to the MV6 clone on volcanic red clay. Hand-picked parcel by parcel, destemmed, wild fermented and aged in French oak barrels.
Red cherry, rosehip and soft red fruits, with ironstone, autumn leaves, meat, mushroom and cake spice. Pure and fine, with lively acidity and silky tannins.
Pairs well with roast duck, mushroom dishes or a washed-rind cheese. Lovely now, and will cellar for many years.
750ml · Mornington Peninsula, Victoria
