Matthieu Megard is a third-generation cheesemaker who grew up in the French Alps. Today he makes L'Artisan cheese on Victoria's Great Ocean Road, using organic milk from a single herd of Jersey cows, which gives every cheese a rich, buttery depth.
His cheeses follow the French tradition he learned at home: Mountain Man in the style of Reblochon, Fermier in the style of Morbier with its line of ash, the soft Marcel and the triple-cream Extravagant.
