Description
The wine
Boutinot have made Rhône wine since the early 1980s and now own vineyards up to 50 years old in Cairanne, with their own winery on site. Winemaker Eric Monnin, formerly of Louis Roederer and William Fèvre, leads the team. Les Coteaux blends oak-fermented fruit from the classified villages of Sablet, Séguret and Cairanne with lighter, unoaked Côtes du Rhône Villages parcels. It is aged for 22 months in tank, seasoned and new oak.
Tasting notes
Dark berry fruit and warm spice, with a rounded, smooth texture from the long ageing. Generous but not heavy.
How to enjoy
Serve at 16–18°C. It loves savoury cheeses: try Saint Nectaire AOP, Marcel Petite Comté AOP 24 months or Fourme d'Ambert AOP.
