The Petit Sainte Maure Cendrée is an ashed, log-shaped goat's cheese from the Loire Valley in France, modelled on Sainte Maure de Touraine.

  • Appearance: Small log-shaped cheese with a thin, wrinkled, bloomy rind and a visible line of vegetable ash.
  • Aroma: Fresh, tangy, and slightly earthy with the sweetness of goat's milk.
  • Texture: A creamy layer just under the rind with a denser, chalky, and slightly crumbly center.
  • Flavour: Mildly tangy and acidic, with a nutty, grassy, and earthy finish. The ash contributes a subtle minerality.

Fromagerie Poitou Chèvre is a testament to a long-standing regional cheesemaking tradition. Originally founded by local goat farmers as the cooperative Bougon dairy, in 2016, Poitou Chèvre, a family-owned company, took over the operations, revitalising the historic site and dedicating it to the production of traditional Poitou cheeses. The company's mission is to preserve and promote the authentic flavors of Poitou's goat cheeses, with all milk sourced from farms within 50km of the dairy.
