This is a typical Chateauneuf du Pape blend from the Rhône Valley, France.

70.1% grenache, 24.9% mataro, 5% carignan from multiple vineyards with an average age of 87yo.

Wild yeast-open fermented with an average of 38% whole bunches. 16 days on skins. Matured for 20 months in used French oak.

The cool vintage is reflected in the savoury intensity that permeates every part of a very complex wine.

Aroma - Plum, sour cherries and florals.

Palate - Think pure, plump and juicy plum and berry fruits, a touch of sour cherry bite, plenty of spicy nuance, a waft of gingerbread and frangipani.

About Yelland & Papps

Michael and Susan Papps (née Yelland) set up this venture after their marriage in 2005.

It is easy for them to regard the Barossa Valley as their home because Michael has lived and worked in the wine industry in the Barossa Valley for more than 20 years. He has a rare touch, producing consistently excellent wines, but also pushing the envelope; as well as using a sustainable approach to winemaking with minimal inputs.

He has not hesitated to challenge orthodox approaches to a number of aspects of conventional fermentation methods.
