A new approach to production has seen this wine tucked away in 2000l foudre for 22 months. A timeless method for this variety that allows it to progress slowly without gathering layers of oak.
A spice laden wine, juniper and black tea, cherry, a quite tight palate that has layers on fine tannin and persistent acid.
Built to cellar for 10-15 years as an estimate.
Beautifully packaged and delivered across Sydney Metro.

Ravensworth Sangiovese 2021
The long anticipated return of Bryan's Estate Wines.
One of the flagship wines of the Ravensworth range, the Sangiovese is sourced from mostly 25-year-old vines grown on granite soils at 650 metres elevation.
It was processed as whole berries and spent six months on skins in cuve before pressing. It was racked in January and spent a further year in foudre before being bottled unfined and unfiltered.
Quite reserved at this stage. Built to cellar for 10-15 years as an estimate.
"What a thing. This is often a high water mark for sangio in Aus. Attractive pale garnet colour in the glass. Supple, sweet cherry set amongst bergamot tea (and tea tannin) with dried herbs, sour plum, licks of vanilla and a cool, faintly minty element. It’s lighter weighted than those words suggest, shy of medium weight, fine boned, structured and finishes long and with sweet spices. It’s not as chewy and firm as you’d expect, but the freshness and lift is lovely. Excellent, in a word." 94 points, Mike Bennie, The Wine Front
About Ravensworth
Ravensworth began its journey in 2001 under the pretext that 'It seemed like a good idea at the time’. A family affair these days with life-shackled-partners Bryan and Jocelyn Martin teaming up with brother David Martin.
In the vineyards, Bryan hasn’t used a synthetic chemical for over 10 years. He has a laser focus when it comes to the microbial and soil health of his vineyards and likens his vine sites to an extension of his beautiful vegetable garden on the property – so no fertilisers or herbicides are used and, if you ever visit you’ll see the vines are just brimming with vitality.
In the winery, Bryan has spared no expense to ensure his processing practices are as gentle as possible. He uses vibrating hoppers, Oscillys destemmers (very gentle) and no pumping. These activities pave an easier path to whole berry vinification and help him eliminate any fruit that is not perfect.
Now, with son Lewis close to completing his Wine Science qualification and all teed up to do his first European vintage (in the middle of this year with Domaine Bott in the Northern Rhône), the succession line seems clear (no pressure Lewis!).
And, if the quality of these 2021s are anything to go by, under the tutelage of Jedi Bryan Martin the future looks bright for this young Padawan, and for the Ravensworth Estate.
