Domaine Naturaliste Sauvignon Blanc Semillon 2021

Approximately two-thirds sauvignon blanc, the balance semillon. 30% of the blend was aged on lees in barrel for 2 months, the rest in tank to maintain purity and freshness.

Salivating gooseberry, sugar snap pea, jasmine florals and white spice define the nose, the palate follows suit. This is bouncy and delicious, with brilliant expression of flavour. The barrel work is almost imperceptible, save for the chalky phenolics and plush texture on the palate.

"83/17% sauvignon blanc/semillon. 100% barrel ferment (15% new), weekly bâtonnage for 2 months prior to early winter bottling. Creamy, funky, a bit sweaty and super-lifted. This is what I would describe as restrained tropical: there is guava, pawpaw, lychee and even hints of pineapple, all of it on the greener side, and therefore somewhat pulled in, or restrained. There's some salted crushed nuts, green apple and grapefruit in there for good measure. Pretty delicious proposition, the price astounding."  Halliday Wine Companion

About Domaine Naturaliste 

Named James Halliday's Best Value Winery for 2020, owner/winemaker Bruce Dukes has a wealth of winemaking experience both here and abroad, including a stint at Francis Ford Coppola's iconic Niebaum Coppola winery in the Napa Valley.

Back in WA Bruce worked with a consultancy and contract winemaking business in Margaret River in 2000. His winery was set up to handle small and large amounts of fruit, but it was not until ’12 that he made his own wine under the Domaine Naturaliste label. The quality of all the wines is excellent.
