McLaren Vale, SA
Made from a single vineyard with 77-year-old dry-grown vines on the sandy soils of Blewitt Springs. The colour is medium to deep red/purple and the bouquet suggests humus, undergrowth and dried spices—more savoury than fruity—while the palate is similarly dry, savoury and super-serious, with darker-fruit flavours part-hidden within. A full-bodied, well-structured Grenache with lashings of fine, powdery tannins. Lovely drinking already.
