Meet The Team

Owners Michael Bramley and Ken Milton are passionate about great food, wine and entertaining where cheese is always a central feature of any party. With The Artisan Cheese Room in Paddington, they provide a welcoming atmosphere where customers can explore their passion for cheese and accompaniments as well as explore a range of fabulous carefully curated artisanal products to taste and admire.

Michael left his previous career in the media and entertainment industry to follow and his passion for beautiful food with The Artisan Cheese Room. Having studied in the Champagne region in France, he developed an appreciation of regionality and seasonality and a love of cheese that began with the local specialty, Langres. More recently Michael has sought to expand and formalise his ever growing knowledge of Cheese and Wine by studying with the Academy of Cheese, Cheese State University and the Wine and Spirits Education Trust.

Ken is a professional violinist and violist, having studied at the Conservatorium of Music in Sydney and then at Musichochschule Luebeck, Germany. Alongside orchestral work, chamber music and teaching Ken has also followed his passion for food as a sideline career. He’s worked as a chef with diverse experience in kitchens from London to Sydney, including a stint working at The French House Dining Room under Fergus Henderson who has championed ‘Nose to Tail’ cuisine in his restaurants.

From the ever changing range of Australian and International cheeses and specialty foods to the selection of ceramics and serveware, the goal is to highlight small producers who are fuelled by passion and quality, creativity and individuality. We try to choose things which are unique and special and are a treat and delight for the senses.
