The Yarra Valley label is the entry into our Pinot Noir and Chardonnay wines.

‘Yarra Valley’ is a blend of declassified barrels from our grower vineyards and the Mac Forbes single vineyard sites. They represent a snapshot from across the valley and our vineyards. Generally, they can be enjoyed young but cellaring will reward with increased complexity.

A really heady wine this year, beautiful florals on the nose, lots of dried rose, cherry, red plum. The palate as elegant as always, but a touch more weight here.

High acidity that really carries the wine, lots of cherry again with strawberry too, fine lingering tannins finishing with a little chocolate/earth note and cola spice gives freshness.

A pure fruited wine, very moreish, a super strong Yarra Pinot this year. It won't be around for long!

"A blend of eight vineyards, predominantly clone MV6 on clay loam and a bit of granite. Whole bunches (20%) matured in seasoned barriques and some puncheons. Bright crimson red. Lifted and gently high-toned with aromas of red fruits, spice and a little lavender. The palate is built around crunchy fruit that's balanced by the wine's bright acidity and fine tannins."  92pts Halliday

About Mac Forbes

Mac Forbes cut his teeth at Mount Mary, where he was winemaker for several years before heading overseas in ’02. He spent 2 years in London working for Southcorp in a marketing role, then travelled to Portugal and Austria to gain further experience. He returned to the Yarra Valley prior to the ’05 vintage, purchasing grapes to make his own wines. Today, Mac makes a Victorian range and a Yarra Valley range from grower fruit, and a single-vineyard range from his own sites, which have been increasing and improving through trial and error since he got his hands on the Woori Yallock vineyard in ’11. They have been dry farmed since ’15, with a move towards organics from ’17.
