Rieslingfreak No. 5 Clare Valley Off-Dry 2022

A year like 2022 with an abundance of natural acidity in the grapes, makes it a perfect vintage for exquisitely balanced off dry Rieslings. John declared that the 2022 No.5 is the best Rieslingfreak No.5 he’s ever made!

The bouquet is richly imbued with aromas of Meyer lemon, orange blossom and sweet nectarine, while the lusciously flavoured palate abounds with freshly sliced grapefruit and spiced apple pie.

The natural sweetness adds an unctuous richness to the mid-palate, but the driving natural acidity imparts linearity and length with a crisp, clean finish.

A fabulous off-dry Riesling to enjoy now, or put away for the future.

Sourced from some of Australia’s top Riesling regions, (Clare Valley, Eden Valley and Polish Hill River) the Rieslingfreak collection includes expressions of dry, sweet, sparkling and fortified Riesling.  A true testament to the versatility of this noble grape and to the commitment of owner and winemaker, John Hughes.

Rieslingfreak began as passion project for John Hughes in 2009. From that first vintage, it has grown to a portfolio of 11 different Rieslings. Rieslingfreak follows the German tradition of classifying each Riesling according to its technical specifications, so specifically sugar and alcohol content.
