The fruit for this year’s blend is drawn from Merricks, Balnarring and Red Hill. The Merricks site, Barney’s flagship, contributes bright fruit characters and a signature savoury quality. The Balnarring site, which Barney has farmed for 12 years, adds shade and spice while the more southerly, cool and high-elevation site in Red Hill contributes linearity.

10% whole bunch, three weeks on skins and further ageing in concrete, foudre and old barrels, It's unfined and unfiltered.

Bunchy freshness, savoury spice, cherry and raspberry. It’s elegant and aromatic, deeply flavoured but not heavy. Silky and supple texture with peach fuzz tannins and lovely fresh acidity.

About Garagiste

Barnaby Flanders was a co-founder of Allies Wines in 2003, with some of the wines made under the Garagiste label. Allies has now gone its own way and Barnaby has a controlling interest in the Garagiste brand.

The focus is on the Mornington Peninsula. The grapes are hand-sorted in the vineyard and again in the winery. Chardonnay is whole-bunch pressed, barrel-fermented with wild yeast in new and used French oak, mlf variably used, 8–9 months on lees.  Seldom fined or filtered.
