Part of a creative project out of Langhorne Creek, for which 3 winemakers were offered access to the region’s fruit for the first time.

From the Wenzel vineyard, 2 separate blocks co-fermented, then steered via a range of vinification techniques and maturation vessels.

The deep purple colour is formidable, aromas of violets, flint, and spiced plum cake.

The palate is all pure dark plums with a herby freshness. High intensity flavours, yet with an ease of flow and fine tannin grip. An exciting Malbec expression.

Beautifully packaged and delivered across Sydney Metro.

Aphelion Wine Project 5255 Welkin Malbec 2020

About Aphelion

Aphelion Wine is akin to a miniature painting done with single-hair paintbrushes. When you consider the credentials of winemaker Rob Mack and co-founder Louise Rhodes Mack, great oaks come to mind.

Rob has accumulated 2 degrees in accounting and management in '07, and wine science from CSU in ’16. He scaled the heights of direct marketing as wine buyer and planner for Laithwaites Wine People, and spent the next 18 months as production manager for Direct Wines in McLaren Vale. He has worked with 5 wineries, 4 in McLaren Vale.

Rob was voted Young Gun of Wine ’18 and Aphelion won Best Small Producer at the McLaren Vale Wine Show in '19.
